JD.com is preparing to launch a new service called "Open Travel," which is currently undergoing internal testing and is expected to become available to the public in the near future. The service's interface within the app is designed to closely resemble that of mainstream ride-hailing applications. The initial testing phase is being conducted in the city of Jinan.
The service is currently in a limited beta testing phase within the app. According to sources, the initiative is a collaboration between Changan Automobile and JD.com. In a strategic shift, JD.com may forego the conventional ride-hailing aggregation model that integrates third-party fleets. Instead, the company is reportedly opting for a deeper partnership with automobile manufacturers, pioneering a new "e-commerce plus automaker" model for mobility services.
