In a move to capitalize on the current upswing in Hong Kong's initial public offering market, JPMorgan Chase has recruited two senior investment bankers authorized to sign off on IPO documentation for the city's listings.
The positions, which are highly sought-after during periods of active issuance, have been filled by Benjamin Seto, who joins from Citigroup, and Gary Lam, previously with China Merchants Securities.
Both bankers will report to Nelly Pai, the head of Hong Kong IPO and corporate finance at the firm.
Sources familiar with the matter indicate that both new hires are qualified to serve as sponsor principals.
A spokesperson for JPMorgan Chase confirmed the appointments.
Sponsor principals are licensed professionals responsible for overseeing due diligence processes and signing the official documents for companies pursuing an IPO in Hong Kong.
