With the 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE) about to open, Shanghai's public security exit-entry administration authorities have introduced facilitation measures, integrating the electronic port visa policy into the CIIE service support system to provide entry clearance convenience for foreign exhibitors and buyers invited by local organizations.
The electronic port visa policy is an innovative service measure pioneered by Shanghai nationwide with the support of the National Immigration Administration.
Compared with traditional visas, this model offers higher processing efficiency and convenience: eligible applications can typically be completed within 2 days, and once approved, applicants can complete entry procedures using the electronic version of the "People's Republic of China Electronic Port Visa Confirmation Letter" along with their personal passport, with a stay period not exceeding 30 days upon entry.
The highlight of this facilitation is not only the shift from offline to online processing, but also the adjustment from individual applications to unit-sponsored applications: inviting organizations can submit applications collectively on behalf of invitees based on the overall arrangements of competitions, performances, or business activities, so that invited international guests no longer need to be distracted by paperwork.
"International competitions, business exhibitions, and other itineraries often have tight schedules and frequent last-minute adjustments. For eligible urgent applications, we make every effort to speed up processing on the basis of lawful verification, helping applicants enter smoothly and arrange their itineraries," said an officer from Shanghai's public security exit-entry administration authorities.
