Meituan has officially upgraded its review system for all partner hotels, incorporating artificial intelligence to identify fake reviews, intervene in malicious negative feedback, and handle abnormal evaluations. The company stated that by combining AI detection with manual verification, the processing time for suspicious reviews has been reduced from 36 hours to within 24 hours. Since the initiative began, the AI system has been automatically intercepting an average of over 30,000 malicious reviews monthly.
The upgrade focuses on three key areas: first, the platform uses AI-assisted identification followed by human review to address abnormal content such as fabricated positive reviews and malicious negative feedback; second, merchants can now file appeals through the backend when encountering suspicious evaluations; third, businesses may submit requests to block users engaged in malicious review practices, which will be processed after platform verification.
