POP MART's Wang Ning on Hiring: Key Management Onboarding Involves a Big Drinking Session, Effective Even for Foreigners

In a recent interview with Xinhua News Agency's "Loudspeaker" program, Wang Ning of POP MART stated that during the hiring process, it is often over drinks that he persuades candidates to join the company. He further indicated that for many key management personnel, their official onboarding involves a substantial drinking session, a tactic he claims is also effective with foreign candidates.

He expressed that POP MART's management team is exceptionally stable. While many companies see executives go their separate ways after an IPO, POP MART is different. "The goal is to gather people who are willing to believe together; it's not necessarily about finding the so-called best. I don't consider myself a top-tier talent either, but it's more about bringing together possibly ordinary people to collectively accomplish something extraordinary," he said.
