A meeting of the Shaanxi Provincial Consumer Rights Protection Joint Conference was recently held in Xi'an to outline key tasks for 2026. The conference reviewed the province's consumer protection efforts in 2025 and discussed priorities for the upcoming year. Attendees heard reports on consumer rights protection work, examined and approved the 2026 Key Points for Consumer Rights Protection and Trustworthy Consumption Work, and reviewed the Shaanxi Provincial 2025 Consumer Environment Index (CEI) Report. Representatives from departments including the Department of Industry and Information Technology, Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Department of Commerce, and Department of Culture and Tourism delivered exchange speeches.
The meeting highlighted that in 2025, member units of the provincial consumer protection joint conference focused on their respective functions, steadily advanced the three-year action plan to optimize the consumer environment, continuously improved diversified dispute resolution mechanisms, and gradually addressed challenges in the consumer sector. Initiatives such as the "Trustworthy Consumption in Sanqin" campaign and various specialized governance efforts were deepened, enhancing inter-departmental collaboration and steadily improving the province's consumer environment.
It was emphasized that protecting consumer rights is essential for safeguarding public welfare, stimulating economic vitality, upholding fairness and justice, and promoting high-quality economic and social development. The year 2026 marks the beginning of the 15th Five-Year Plan period and is a crucial year for advancing the three-year action plan to optimize the consumer environment. Member units were urged to focus on key tasks, including improving consumption quality by addressing supply and demand dynamics, standardizing market order to protect people's livelihood-related consumption, diversifying dispute resolution mechanisms to safeguard consumer rights, leading by example in collaborative governance, and strengthening publicity to foster a positive social atmosphere.
The meeting called on all member units to closely follow the Task List for the Shaanxi Province Three-Year Action Plan to Optimize the Consumer Environment (2025–2027) to ensure effective implementation of various tasks. Enhanced communication and coordination were encouraged to maximize the overall effectiveness of collaborative governance. Enterprises were urged to strengthen their primary responsibility to continuously improve the consumer experience, while industries were directed to promote integrity in operations and standardized development, collectively working toward a safe and trustworthy consumer environment.
