Musk Responds to Reports of American Billionaires Fleeing California

Reports that California's proposed 5% wealth tax is forcing billionaires to flee the state prompted a user to post on the X platform: "If billionaires are fleeing California for Texas, then they have a moral obligation to leave their politics in California as well—because they often participate in the very destructive policies that lead them to want to leave.

If they start doing similar things again—such as supporting NGOs that back homeless initiatives but have never managed to get anyone off the streets, or advocating for illegal immigration, or facilitating an influx of legal immigrants that floods the market and suppresses local wages—then Texas should also start imposing its own wealth tax to scare them away."

Musk responded: "Yes."
