On January 5th, the first trading day of 2026, the three major A-share indices collectively advanced, with the Shanghai Composite Index climbing back above the 4000-point level. By the market close, the Shanghai Composite Index had risen 1.38% to 4023.42 points, the Shenzhen Component Index gained 2.24% to 13828.63 points, and the ChiNext Index jumped 2.85% to 3294.55 points. More than 4,100 stocks across the market recorded gains, with the full-day turnover reaching approximately 2.57 trillion yuan, representing a significant increase in trading volume compared to the previous session.
