Deep News05:00

Zeku County in Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture has been successfully included in the list of units selected to build national demonstration cities (counties) for grassroots traditional Chinese medicine work for the 2026-2028 period, according to a previous public notice from the Comprehensive Department of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The county had previously been recognized as an advanced unit for grassroots traditional Chinese medicine work nationwide. This continued demonstration effort both consolidates and expands earlier achievements and serves as an important opportunity to align with new industry standards and promote the upgrading of Tibetan medicine.

In recent years, Zeku County has pursued a development path centered on plateau Tibetan medicine, continuously improving its grassroots service system and building a three-tier county-township-village service network led by the county Tibetan hospital, supported by Tibetan medicine clinics at township health centers, and based on Tibetan medicine services at village clinics.

At present, all eight township health centers in the county have standardized Tibetan medicine clinics, including four flagship clinics and nine standardized Tibetan medicine rooms. All 80 village clinics are fully equipped with basic Tibetan medicines, achieving full coverage of regular grassroots Tibetan medicine services.

Focusing on the health needs of people in highland pastoral areas, Zeku County targets key conditions such as common plateau diseases, chronic diseases, rheumatic bone and joint diseases, and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. It gives full play to the distinctive advantages of Tibetan medicine in prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation, vigorously promotes appropriate Tibetan medicine techniques, and regularly carries out skills improvement work for grassroots medical staff.

At the same time, the county taps local traditional Tibetan medicine techniques, classic proven prescriptions, and intangible cultural heritage resources to continuously enrich the supply of grassroots health services, allowing pastoral residents to enjoy convenient, affordable, and high-quality Tibetan medicine services at their doorstep. Taking this demonstration effort as an opportunity, Zeku County is strictly following national construction standards to address shortcomings, strengthen weak service areas, and improve service quality. By improving the Tibetan medicine service system, enhancing talent pipeline development, strengthening specialty disciplines, advancing Tibetan medicine preparation research, and promoting Tibetan medicine culture, the county is pushing Tibetan medicine to become deeply integrated into grassroots public health services, promoting the inheritance, innovation, and high-quality development of plateau Tibetan medicine, and continuously improving the health and well-being of farmers and herdsmen.
