BEONE MEDICINES Halts Initial KRAS Inhibitor Project but Remains Active in RAS Field

BEONE MEDICINES has revealed that it has discontinued development of its original Pan-KRAS inhibitor known as BGB-53038. However, the company has confirmed that it is not withdrawing from the broader RAS research area.

The new initiative now focuses on a Pan-RAS molecular glue degrader. This novel compound shares similarities with products from Revolution Medicines, but boasts several potential differentiating advantages. These include a more efficient degradation of KRAS, a longer and more stable pharmacokinetic profile—which could lead to improved safety—and a strong ability to cross the blood-brain barrier. This latter attribute is particularly significant for non-small cell lung cancer, a disease that frequently metastasises to the brain.
