Reports indicate that Insta360 Innovation is developing a smart glasses product centered on photography and filming, according to sources cited in a September 29 morning report.
Unlike most AI glasses on the market that prioritize voice AI assistants as their core selling point, this product is designed to first and foremost meet content creators' demand for convenient, high-quality, hands-free shooting.
A person familiar with the matter stated: "Insta360's product may feature a swappable front frame design, with functionality concentrated in the temples. Users can change the frame based on different scenarios or outfit styles, making the smart glasses more aligned with the consumer logic of traditional eyewear."
This aligns with a previously granted utility model patent for "wearable glasses" filed by Insta360. The patent abstract shows that the glasses body is worn on the head, while the battery device is separated from the main body and worn on other parts of the body, powered through an electrical connection cable. The purpose is to "reduce the weight burden on the user's head and alleviate pressure from prolonged wear."
Earlier, an Insta360 representative confirmed to SINA Corp (SINA) that the company would launch an AI glasses product, stating that the product is currently under development and has already taken initial shape.
Regarding AI capabilities, Insta360 will most likely choose to integrate Alibaba's Qwen large model. According to an internal source at Insta360: "In the future, the core direction of the company's AI efforts will still be how to deploy on-device generative models directly onto Insta360's product end. In addition, Insta360 is internally developing new products beyond its existing product forms."
