[Click to register] Sina Tech News, October 14 midday message: Beijing Hongyi Gezhi Education Technology Co., Ltd. issued an "Open Apology Letter Regarding the Infringement of Fenbi's Intellectual Property." The apology letter mentioned that due to work negligence and management failure, the paid civil service exam training courses operated by the company's "Chaoge Civil Service Exam" brand, including the "Practical Barrel 680 Course" and "Practical Cool Brush Course," used textbooks, lecture notes, and study materials shared with users that contained infringing content copied, adapted, and compiled from FENBI mock exam questions; moreover, the company disseminated and provided materials containing the aforementioned infringing content to the public through public sales and live-streamed teaching on e-commerce and social platforms such as Taobao, Xiaohongshu, and Douyin.
The apology letter also stated that after equal, voluntary, friendly, and full consultations between both parties, the company voluntarily paid FENBI a total of 4.5 million yuan in infringement compensation, which serves as the one-time final compensation for this infringement dispute and covers all economic losses caused to FENBI by this infringement.
Recently, FENBI published an article stating that Chaoge lecturers used FENBI mock exam products for review sessions to drive traffic. Chaoge founder Kong Chao issued an apology letter, admitting that "some FENBI mock exam questions were selected for use in the 'Practical Barrel' course lecture notes, and this indeed constitutes infringement," and announced plans to remove products from shelves, issue refunds, and provide compensation. FENBI immediately responded by accepting the apology but demanded that Chaoge provide a specific compensation amount.
