According to the Shanghai Airport Border Checkpoint, as of 3:00 PM on August 9, nearly 480 inbound and outbound flights at Shanghai Pudong International Airport have been canceled due to the impact of Typhoon "White Dolphin." These flights primarily serve destinations in Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, the United States, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. Additionally, about 40 inbound flights have been diverted to alternate airports in other cities.
In response to the typhoon, the Shanghai Airport Border Checkpoint quickly activated its emergency response plan, closely monitoring the typhoon's trajectory and flight adjustment information to ensure effective service support. The checkpoint strengthened information coordination, maintaining open communication with the airport's operations control center and airlines, to preemptively gather details on flight arrival and departure times, gate changes, and diversion updates. This enabled efficient deployment of personnel to facilitate smooth passenger clearance.
Furthermore, additional police resources were allocated, with backup teams prepared to handle peak passenger flows. A dedicated area for canceling travel procedures was set up at departure terminals, and extra officers were deployed to guide passengers in batches for quick processing. To enhance service quality, the border checkpoint also organized a "Pioneer" volunteer team to provide passenger guidance and consultation, actively offering humane clearance support for elderly, ill, disabled, pregnant, and other special-needs travelers.
