On October 12, the 300,000-tonne crude oil terminal project in the Bohe New Port Area of Maoming Port, Guangdong, passed completion acceptance, laying a solid hardware foundation for the terminal's subsequent commissioning and operation.
It is understood that the 300,000-tonne crude oil terminal project in the Bohe New Port Area of Maoming Port is a key project in Guangdong Province. Its construction content is one new 300,000-tonne crude oil terminal berth, with a total berth length of 404 meters and a designed annual throughput capacity of 16.5 million tonnes.
The project began construction in November 2022 and has successively completed processes including the installation of 6,500-tonne caissons, the driving of 145 deep-water bored piles in areas without overburden, the construction of an offshore mass concrete platform with a single pour of more than 2,400 cubic meters, reef blasting amounting to 1 million cubic meters, and the installation of process pipelines stretching as long as 5 kilometers.
A person in charge of Maoming Port stated that the project has a designed passing capacity of 16.5 million tonnes per year, fills the shortfall in large-scale crude oil unloading capacity, consolidates the foundation for building Maoming into a world-class petrochemical industry base, and safeguards regional energy security in Guangdong. The project adds a direct berthing berth for very large crude carriers (VLCCs) in South China, enriches China's maritime crude oil import channels, and supports energy trade cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
After the project is completed, it will serve the construction of the maritime energy corridor in the South China Sea (Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area), participate in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, and reduce crude oil transportation costs for petrochemical enterprises in the Maoming area and its hinterland.
