China's Electricity Market Trading Volume Jumps 25.6% Year-on-Year in Q1

Data released on April 24 shows that China's electricity market trading volume reached 1,841.6 billion kilowatt-hours in the first quarter, representing a year-on-year increase of 25.6%. Within this total, intra-provincial trading volume amounted to 1,472.6 billion kWh, up 29.3% compared to the same period last year. Cross-provincial and cross-regional trading volume was 369.0 billion kWh, growing by 12.6% year-on-year.

By transaction type, medium to long-term trading accounted for 1,594.9 billion kWh, while spot market transactions totaled 246.7 billion kWh. Trading volume of green electricity reached 75.6 billion kWh, increasing by 3.1% from a year earlier.

In March alone, the national electricity market trading volume was 635.5 billion kWh, up 25.9% compared to the same month last year. Intra-provincial trading volume for the month stood at 512.1 billion kWh, a 29.6% year-on-year increase, while cross-provincial and cross-regional trading reached 123.4 billion kWh, rising 12.2%. Medium to long-term transactions accounted for 546.2 billion kWh in March, with spot transactions at 89.3 billion kWh. Green electricity trading volume for the month was 27.8 billion kWh, declining by 1.7% year-on-year.
