KE Holdings Inc. (NYSE: BEKE), operating as Beike, and its Lianjia brand have joined forces with Tencent Holdings Ltd (OTC: TCEHY) to launch a "Lifesaving Community Store" initiative. This program represents a significant step following the March announcement of Beike's consumer-centric upgrade to its community living service model.
On July 29, the first group of 60 Lianjia agent volunteers from Shenzhen completed a professional CPR + AED certification course at the Shenzhen Emergency Center. Cardiac arrest often strikes without warning, occurring in offices, sports fields, community streets, or even homes. With over 1.03 million people in China experiencing cardiac arrest annually—more than 80% of which happen outside of hospitals—equipping communities with AEDs and first aid skills can provide the critical minutes needed before an ambulance arrives.
Under the plan, the two companies will hold Beike-specific events across more than 20 cities, including Shenzhen, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Xi'an, to provide free professional first aid training to tens of thousands of real estate agents. By leveraging AED devices placed in nearby communities and lifesaving kits stocked at stores, every Lianjia store will become a "lifesaving community store," serving as a key node in the urban "5-minute social rescue network."
After completing the training, these agents will become Penguin Rescue volunteers. When a 120 dispatch center receives a call about a sudden cardiac arrest, the Penguin Rescue platform will send a rescue command to registered volunteers within a 3-kilometer radius of the incident. Lianjia agents receiving the alert can quickly grab an AED device and rush to the scene to provide emergency care. Both the dispatch center and the public can view the nearest available AED location in real time, enabling immediate assistance for the person in need.
Wang Xuemei, head of the training section at the Shenzhen Emergency Center, stated, "After a cardiac arrest, the golden window for rescue is only four minutes. Every minute of delay reduces the survival rate by 10%. Within those four minutes, the person who arrives is often not an ambulance, but the person closest to the patient. Lianjia has store locations covering all of Shenzhen, and agents are active in the community long-term, making them the most stable and accessible community force. By training agents in first aid skills and equipping communities with AEDs, we are planting countless 'first aid outposts' that are crucial for improving pre-hospital rescue success rates."
Dai Mingkui, Vice President of Beike and General Manager of the Shenzhen region, commented, "This year marks the 25th anniversary of Lianjia. We have always been rooted in and dedicated to the community, as we are naturally part of it. Through this collaboration with Tencent, we are providing first aid training to our agents and equipping our stores with first aid kits. Our goal is to ensure that the people who are most active in the community are also those who can save lives. We want residents to feel a sense of security knowing that the Lianjia store downstairs could be a lifeline in a critical moment."
Lianjia agent Lin Xiongwei, who received his certification after the training, said excitedly, "I used to think first aid was far from me, but after learning CPR and AED operation, I feel much more confident. I work in the community every day, and if an emergency happens, I now know what to do. This is not just a skill; it's a responsibility. Now, when my neighbors see me, they will know I am not just a Lianjia agent, but also a neighbor who can provide first aid."
Beike has a long history of community public welfare work. For example, to address the risk of falls among the elderly, the Beike Public Welfare Foundation launched the "I'll Teach You to Prevent Falls" project and the "Steady Plan" focused on minor renovations to make building hallways more age-friendly. As of the end of 2025, the "Steady Plan" had completed renovations in 1,051 building hallways in Beijing, installing 9,900 handrails with a total length exceeding 30,000 meters, benefiting over 25,000 residents across 26 communities. Beijing Lianjia has also established an internal policy that agents must actively help an elderly person who falls in the community; if this leads to a legal dispute or compensation claim, the company will cover the agent.
Furthermore, since 2018, the Beike Public Welfare Foundation has conducted the "I'll Teach You to Use a Smartphone" community classroom program to help the elderly bridge the digital divide. As of May 2026, this project has reached 142 cities nationwide, delivering 130,000 lessons to over 1.72 million elderly participants, with an online reach of 7.08 million. On this foundation, Beike has also established a "Silver-Haired Volunteer" platform, which has recruited 875 volunteers in Beijing, Taiyuan, and Luoyang, who have contributed over 9,000 hours of volunteer service.
