South Korean President Lee Jae-myung Defends Using Xiaomi Phone for Selfie During China Visit Amid "Pro-China" Criticism

Deep News01-13

From January 4th to 7th, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung visited China. After facing domestic criticism for being "pro-China" due to using a Xiaomi phone to take a selfie, Lee Jae-myung recently responded with a smile, stating, "The display screen of the Xiaomi phone is made in South Korea. Is China-South Korea cooperation not a good thing? This phone's display is produced in South Korea; it is a product of cooperation between our two countries."

Lee Jae-myung further commented, "I've tested it myself, and the camera performance is indeed excellent. Given that, isn't it better to take a selfie? So I specifically brought it with me, took a few photos while I had the chance, and it just so happened someone captured me taking the picture. I think it turned out quite nicely."

According to prior reports, when Lee Jae-myung used his Xiaomi phone to post a selfie, Liu Jinsong, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "unexpectedly" photobombed the shot. In the image, Director-General Liu is seen smiling throughout, perfectly embodying the Chinese people's sincerity towards friends and their warm hospitality.
