Global Logistics Leaders Gather at IAA 'China Day' as CIMC Vehicles Chairman Outlines Vision for Smart Electric Trucking Ecosystem

Deep News09-20

At the 2026 IAA Transportation exhibition in Hanover, the flagship national exchange event "China Day" convened at the exhibition center on September 16, drawing key voices from the global commercial vehicle supply chain.

Co-hosted by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade's Automotive Sub-Council, the session featured opening remarks from VDA President Muhia, CCPIT Auto Sub-Council President Wang Xia, and Commercial Counselor Zhai Qian of the Chinese Embassy in Germany. Executives from Daimler Truck, FAW Jiefang, Traton Group, Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicles, CATL, and CIMC Vehicles took the stage in succession, engaging in a strategic dialogue on foreign automakers' observations of the Chinese market, policy frameworks for zero-emission heavy trucks, product roadmaps, integrated tractor-trailer ecosystems, charging infrastructure, and battery technology, all centered on how Chinese commercial vehicles can meaningfully reshape global transport dynamics.

Among the assembled international OEM giants and battery leaders, CIMC Vehicles (301039.SZ) Chairman and CEO Li Guiping stood out as the sole representative from the trailer and specialty vehicle sector. A recognized global leader in semi-trailer manufacturing, Li delivered a keynote titled "Pure Electric Tractor-Trailer Trains and Their Ecosystem Through the Eyes of CIMC Vehicles."

In his address, Li noted that the era of global electric heavy-duty trucking has fully arrived, yet the industry's rapid advancement is confronting systemic hurdles, including the absence of forward-looking standards and constrained infrastructure. He argued that isolated technological breakthroughs are no longer sufficient to drive industrial transformation on the path to zero emissions, emphasizing that the sector urgently requires a systematic architectural overhaul.

Presenting the company's response to these industry-wide pain points, Li outlined CIMC Vehicles' resolution: the determined construction of an EV-RT ecosystem built on a "vehicle plus mobile charging plus marketing and service operation nodes" framework. This model moves beyond delivering standalone products to offering intelligent logistics solutions for pure electric tractor-trailer combinations in the new era.

Li further underscored the company's strategic conviction in technology-driven transformation, backed by decades of manufacturing expertise, as it showcases its ecosystem vision to the global market. Concluding his remarks, Li reaffirmed CIMC Vehicles' commitment to open collaboration with global partners, stating that the company will continue leveraging the hard power of "Intelligent Manufacturing in China" to lead the iterative evolution of global commercial vehicle standards and accelerate the industry's progression from electrification toward higher-level intelligence and unmanned operations in new energy heavy trucks.
