Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL) is advancing the deep integration of artificial intelligence into its ecosystem. At the Google I/O 2026 developer conference, CEO Sundar Pichai stated the company has entered a new phase where users now expect AI to deliver tangible value in everyday products. Pichai revealed that Google currently has 13 products with over one billion users each. Among these, Google Search, Gmail, Android, Chrome, and YouTube have each surpassed three billion global users.

A key highlight of the event was the announcement of the most significant redesign for Google Search in 25 years. Moving away from launching standalone AI tools, Google is now embedding AI directly into the core search box. This enhancement will allow users to input longer, more complex queries and upload images, videos, documents, and even Chrome browser tabs, with AI assisting in real-time to structure search content and logical problem-solving.

Google executives stated the company's goal is to completely eliminate the barrier between traditional search and AI conversational modes. Elizabeth Reid, Head of Google Search, noted that users no longer wish to consciously distinguish between "traditional search" and "AI mode."

Beyond the search upgrade, Google introduced a new AI tool called "Information Agents." These AI agents can autonomously browse websites, e-commerce platforms, and social media based on user requests to assist with tasks such as finding apartments or tracking product prices. This feature is scheduled to become available to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the summer of 2026.
