A filing notice from the US International Trade Commission (ITC) has thrust two A-share leaders, Luxshare Precision Industry Co.,Ltd. (002475.SZ) and Foxconn Industrial Internet Co.,Ltd. (601138.SH), into the spotlight.
On October 9 local time, the ITC announced the formal launch of a Section 337 investigation into patent infringement claims filed by US power supply maker Vicor Corporation, primarily targeting vertical power delivery (VPD) systems, related components, and computing systems containing such products.
On the afternoon of October 11, Foxconn Industrial Internet Co.,Ltd. announced that the investigation involves the company and three of its controlled subsidiaries. The previous day, Luxshare Precision Industry Co.,Ltd. disclosed in a filing that the company and its controlled subsidiary, Dongguan Luxshare Technology Co., Ltd., had been named as respondents. Both listed companies stated that the matter would not have a material or significant adverse impact on their current production and operations.
Regarding the stage of the products under investigation, Foxconn Industrial Internet Co.,Ltd. said the relevant products are in the internal verification and evaluation stage. Luxshare Precision Industry Co.,Ltd. said the products involved are mainly integrated power supply solutions for power modules and processors used in the data center sector, currently in the customer verification stage and not yet in mass production.
This Section 337 investigation is not directed at a single company. According to reports, server supply chain companies such as Delta Electronics, Infineon, and Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) are also on the list of respondents. At a time when the power supply architecture for AI data centers is accelerating its upgrade, this patent dispute, still in its early filing stage, has pushed "power delivery close to the chip" into the foreground.
