Tesla (TSLA.US) shares climbed more than 3% on Monday to trade at $366.23 amid growing market speculation about a potential merger between Tesla and SpaceX.
Barclays analyst Dan Levy suggested that the two companies could announce a deal before Tesla's annual shareholder meeting on December 3, with the speculation drawing attention to potential business integration and valuation arrangements between the two firms.
However, as of now, neither company has officially confirmed any merger plans, and Tesla's latest proxy statement does not list the merger as an explicit voting item. Therefore, whether the annual shareholder meeting will address such a transaction remains subject to confirmation through subsequent company announcements.
On October 19, Cantor Fitzgerald reiterated its "Overweight" rating on Tesla with a $485 price target, expressing optimism about the company's prospects following the launch of the next-generation Roadster.
