With the May Day holiday approaching, the tourism market is set to welcome a new wave of visitor traffic. Recently, the Market Supervision Administration of Beihai City in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has intensified efforts to crack down on illegal activities such as unmarked pricing, false advertising, and consumer fraud, strictly handling a batch of tourist market violation cases. On April 27, the administration disclosed five typical cases, detailed as follows:

Case 1: A hotel in Haicheng District, Beihai, suspected of price fraud, false advertising, and unmarked pricing. In January 2026, the Haicheng District Market Supervision Administration conducted an inspection of a hotel in Haicheng District based on reported leads. The inspection found no price labels at the front desk for room rates, unmarked pricing for accommodation fees, and unmarked prices for beverages sold on-site. Furthermore, an advertisement at the hotel entrance claimed it was a "three-star comfort hotel," but the hotel failed to provide any certification materials supporting this star rating. The hotel's actions are suspected of violating relevant regulations in the Advertisement Law and the Price Law of China. The Haicheng District Market Supervision Administration has initiated legal proceedings.

Case 2: A fishing village store in Haicheng District, Beihai, suspected of unmarked pricing. In February 2026, during an inspection of a fishing village store in Haicheng District, the Market Supervision Administration discovered that some products in the store were not price-labeled. The store's actions are suspected of breaching relevant provisions of the Price Law. The administration has filed a case for investigation.

Case 3: A hotel in Yinhai District, Beihai, suspected of charging extra fees beyond marked prices for food services. In January 2026, based on platform monitoring information, the Yinhai District Market Supervision Administration inspected a hotel in Yinhai District and reviewed its order receipts. The inspection revealed that the hotel charged prices higher than the marked prices for its food services. The hotel's conduct is suspected of violating regulations on marked pricing and the prohibition of price fraud. The Yinhai District Market Supervision Administration has initiated an investigation.

Case 4: A hotel in Yinhai District, Beihai, involved in consumer fraud. In February 2026, following consumer complaints, the Yinhai District Market Supervision Administration inspected a hotel in Yinhai District. The inspection found that the hotel misrepresented room availability; despite having vacant rooms, it refused accommodation to a consumer by falsely claiming that a specific room's bathroom facilities were damaged. The hotel's actions violate relevant rules in the Measures for Penalizing Acts Infringing upon Consumer Rights. The Yinhai District Market Supervision Administration has imposed penalties according to the law.

Case 5: A rural tourism facility in Beihai suspected of operating food services without a permit and engaging in false or misleading commercial promotions. In February 2026, based on reported leads, the Market Supervision Administration of Weizhou Island Tourist Area inspected a rural tourism facility in Beihai. The inspection found that the facility was conducting food services without obtaining a required "Small Catering Registration Certificate" and was making false or misleading claims about product sales and user reviews. The facility's actions are suspected of violating regulations under the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region's Management Regulations for Small Food Workshops, Small Catering, and Food Stalls, as well as the Anti-Unfair Competition Law of China. The Weizhou Island Tourist Area Market Supervision Administration has filed a case for investigation.
