The targeted operation combined pest control with foliar fertilization, adapting strategies based on field-specific pest severity and rice growth conditions.

During the field operations, crop protection drones flew along pre-planned routes at low, consistent altitudes. For fields with heavier pest pressure, specialized insecticide and fungicide mixtures were applied to reduce pest populations during the critical heading phase. Meanwhile, weaker paddies showing signs of nutrient deficiency received dedicated foliar fertilizer applications to rapidly restore plant vigor, preserve leaf health, strengthen grain development, and promote better grain filling. Agricultural technicians conducted thorough inspections along field ridges throughout the process, closely monitoring atomization quality and spray uniformity to ensure optimal aerial application results.

Since September, late-season rice in Qinnan District has entered the crucial booting and heading stage. This period marks both a peak window for pest outbreaks鈥攚ith rising risks from planthoppers, rice leaf rollers, and stem borers, as well as heightened vulnerability to neck blast and false smut diseases. Simultaneously, the high nutrient demands of heading and grain filling often lead to plant nutritional stress, directly impacting seed setting and grain development. The district bureau's differentiated approach allowed for precise, zone-by-zone operations with phased applications of pesticides and foliar nutrients, delivering dual benefits of disease prevention and yield enhancement.

This aerial application campaign covered a total of 5,600 mu. Compared to traditional manual spraying, drone-based operations offer far greater efficiency and more uniform coverage, enabling farmers to capitalize on the golden management window during the heading period and effectively minimizing yield losses from pests and diseases.
