Deep News06-06 20:40

On June 5th, two very large crude carriers (VLCCs), each with a deadweight tonnage of 306,000, were named and delivered in Dalian, Liaoning province. These vessels, designed and constructed independently within China, were delivered on the same day, establishing a new record within the global shipbuilding industry.

The two VLCCs have been named the "EVROS" and the "ACHELOOS". They are of the same model, independently developed and designed by Dalian Hengli Heavy Industry. With an overall length of 332.8 meters, a breadth of 60 meters, and a depth of 30 meters, the ships have a service speed of 14.5 knots. Their performance and environmental capabilities offer significant advantages within the sector.

Wang Lei, Deputy General Manager of Hengli Shipbuilding (Dalian) Co., Ltd., highlighted the vessels' key features: "They are characterized by high speed, low fuel consumption, large tank capacity, and high loading capacity. This generation of ships incorporates a new generation of desulfurization and denitrification technology, as well as the latest energy-saving and environmental protection equipment, meeting the most recent international green standards."

It is understood that during the construction of this ship type, highly efficient processes were employed, including the use of large-scale block construction, large-scale assembly, and large-scale outfitting. This approach enabled the simultaneous delivery of both vessels, with the contractual delivery period for each ship being advanced by at least three months.
