South Korean benchmark index opens lower by 0.9% while Japanese market stays closed for holiday

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index, widely known as KOSPI, began the trading session with a decline of 0.9%, landing at 6240.06 points.

In contrast, Japan's stock market remained shut for the day due to a national public holiday.
