Alphabet has increased the potential total compensation for Sundar Pichai over the next three years to $692 million, positioning him among the highest-paid chief executives globally.
The company stated on Friday that the primary component of Pichai's compensation package consists of performance stock units (PSUs), with a target value of $126 million. These PSUs are divided equally into two tranches. The value of these performance-based awards will be determined by comparing Alphabet's total shareholder return against that of the S&P 100 constituents. If Alphabet's performance significantly outperforms the index, the payout could reach up to twice the target value, amounting to $252 million. Conversely, if performance lags, the award could be forfeited entirely.
Additionally, the CEO is set to receive $84 million in restricted stock units over the next three years. These will vest approximately on a monthly basis, contingent upon his continued employment with the company. Pichai will also receive an annual base salary of $2 million.
