From QuantumScape (NYSE:QS) to Canoo (NASDAQ:GOEV) to ChargePoint (NYSE:CHPT) the list of publicly listed EV economy companies that recently went public via SPAC nowstands at 22.\nThese all hold the promise of helping change the future of human transport forever and readers should consider monitoring the space due to its longer-term impacts on a number of other industries including energy.\nA New World With New Fundamentals: The New EV Paradigm\nThe passenger EV market is forecasted to grow significantly across all major developed economies over the next decade. Passenger EV unit sales in the United States is expected to grow at a 34% compound annual growth rate to 4 million by 2030. The actual figures are likely to be higher on the back of new state and federal regulation promoting EVs as well as legislation drafted to phase out sales of new internal combustion engine vehicles past certain dates.\nFaraday Future Investor Presentation (Source)\nNorway presents a window to the direction of the developed world as EV sales in the Nordic country represented 54% of new cars sold in 2020. The slow pace of the traditional automakers to carve out market share has created a generational opportunity for new companies to build brand recognition and recognize sales with the coming class of EV owners. The company raised$1 billion in gross proceeds, including a $500 million PIPE with its merger with blank check company Spartan Energy Acquisition Corp. at a $2.9 billion valuation.\nFisker Ocean SUV By Fisker Inc\nCanoo (NASDAQ:GOEV)\nCanoo is an American electric vehicle startup that went public on the back of the SPAC boom in 2020. The company is currently pre-revenue but plans to start production of its Lifestyle Vehicle in 2022 after it raised$600 million, including a $300 million PIPE, at a valuation of $2.4 billion through a merger with a blank check company Hennessy Capital Acquisition Corp IV.\nCanoo Lifestyle Vehicle\nThe Golden Age Of Electric Vehicle Will Change The World\nThe rush of EV companies going public as well as the abrupt shift by traditional automakers to the electrification of their product lines will spark a golden age for electric vehicles. This will be characterized by the rapid ascent of new plug-in electric vehicle sales against a structural decline in their ICE alternatives. We are rapidly heading towards an all-electric singularity that will change the way of transport forever.\nFurther, as the electrical grid becomes increasingly decarbonised with the proliferation of solar, wind, and new nuclear power plants, EVs will see their current environmental costs drops even more. They however miss the point, the growth in EV sales over the next decade will be nothing short of dramatic.\nWill some of these stocks pull back further and fade into obscurity? Yes. Will some of them attain even higher highs and carve out space for themselves in this new world? Yes. The difficulty in picking new winners in a still-emerging industry opens up the possibility of investing in pick-and-shovel plays likebattery supplier Microvast (NASDAQ:THCB) and charging infrastructure company Volta Industries(NYSE:SNPR).
