Tests conducted on March 10 reveal that the Doubao App now supports in-app shopping and order placement. Through voice conversations, Doubao can recommend relevant products based on user needs. During the dialogue, product cards are inserted; upon clicking, users are directed to product details and purchase pages on Douyin E-commerce. Notably, users can complete payment and place orders without leaving the Doubao App. Previous media reports indicated that this feature was in internal testing, marking the first time ByteDance has embedded "AI e-commerce" technology into Doubao, which boasts over 145 million daily active users.
Inquiries made to Douyin customer service clarified that Douyin E-commerce and Doubao operate independently but maintain a cooperative relationship. Douyin E-commerce has not been directly "integrated" into Doubao as a built-in feature. However, Doubao recommends products from Douyin E-commerce, and when users click to purchase, they are redirected to Douyin E-commerce pages to complete transactions.
