Beijing Authorities Collaborate with Ride-Hailing Platforms to Suspend 13,000 Drivers for Violations

Deep News02-13

To ensure a stable and orderly transportation market in the capital during the Spring Festival travel season and safeguard passenger safety and legal rights, the 15th Detachment of the Beijing Municipal Transportation Comprehensive Law Enforcement Corps has intensified oversight of the ride-sharing industry. Working in coordination with four major ride-sharing platforms—DiDi Global Inc., Gaode, Hello, and Didachuxing—the detachment has taken joint action against violations that disrupt management order and infringe upon passenger rights, effectively maintaining industry standards. With increased demand for ride-sharing services during the travel peak, the risk of non-compliant operations has risen. Utilizing online enforcement tools, the detachment analyzed platform data to identify behaviors such as drivers accepting orders across multiple platforms simultaneously, frequent order cancellations, unauthorized fare increases, and discrepancies between driver and vehicle registration details. These leads were compiled and forwarded to the platforms for verification. Based on the severity of violations, the platforms imposed differentiated penalties, including temporary suspensions ranging from 1 to 7 days for over 10,000 drivers, 8 to 15 days for more than 500 drivers, 30 days to one year for 2,200 drivers, and permanent bans for over 800 drivers. Additionally, information on more than 1,600 drivers involved in serious violations, such as using cheating devices, was shared with relevant companies to facilitate joint suspensions. Moving forward, the 15th Detachment will continue to urge platforms to strengthen internal management, rigorously vet driver qualifications, and enhance training to prevent violations at the source. Efforts will also focus on advancing cross-platform data enforcement and deepening collaboration with companies to regularly screen for and address non-compliant activities, supporting the high-quality development of the industry.
