Kweichow Moutai has reached a clear inflection point in its operations, with a one-year price target set at 2,030 yuan.
Effective from midnight on July 18, 2026, the retail price for Feitian 53%vol 500ml Kweichow Moutai (2026) on the iMoutai app platform has been adjusted from 1,539 yuan per bottle to 1,639 yuan per bottle. The sales contract price has been raised from 1,269 yuan per bottle to 1,369 yuan per bottle. On the same platform, the retail price for the Feitian 53%vol 1L version has been adjusted from 3,119 yuan per bottle to 3,269 yuan per bottle. When the market opened on Monday, July 20, enthusiasm in the secondary market for the baijiu sector was ignited by Moutai's price increase. The share price of Kweichow Moutai Co.,Ltd. (600519) surged over 6% intraday, breaching the 1,300 yuan level. Roughly calculated, the stock has risen approximately 10% from its recent low of around 1,151 yuan.
Multiple institutions have issued positive ratings regarding this price hike. Their calculations suggest the increase will provide a low single-digit percentage boost to Moutai's 2026 profits, with a more significant impact on 2027 earnings. Among them, Huachuang Securities maintains a target price of 2,030 yuan and a "Strongly Recommended" rating. Currently, the baijiu industry is in a phase of bottoming out at low levels, with sector valuations at the 10th percentile of the past decade. Both holdings and valuations are at historical lows. High-end baijiu demonstrates strong anti-cyclical attributes, with leading companies offering clear earnings visibility and high dividends, highlighting their allocation value. Given the low comparison base in the second half of the year, the sector is poised for a potential valuation recovery.
Moutai Raises Prices Again
Positive Market Response
On the evening of July 17, Kweichow Moutai Co.,Ltd. (600519) announced an adjustment to its price structure. Starting July 18, the iMoutai retail and sales contract prices for the 2026 standard Feitian product would be raised by 6.5% and 7.9% respectively, marking the second price increase since late March this year. Simultaneously, according to the iMoutai app announcement, the price for the 1-liter version was also adjusted upward by 4.8%.
Since initiating market-oriented reforms in 2026, Kweichow Moutai Co.,Ltd. has adjusted its pricing system multiple times under the principle of "following market trends, maintaining relative stability, matching supply and demand, and balancing volume and price." The company raised prices for the 2026 standard Feitian product in March and July, adjusted the 1-liter version's price in May and July, and also increased prices for aged and premium products on the iMoutai platform in May.
Guotai Haitong noted that the products subject to price increases are all core offerings of Moutai. The company is adopting a strategy of frequent, small adjustments, with single increases ranging from 1.9% to 8.6%. The new retail prices generally align with prevailing market wholesale prices at the time of the hike. This approach preserves some profit margin for distributors while simultaneously compressing retail premiums, thereby encouraging product flow towards genuine consumers and boosting the consumption rate.
"Judging from the past few months, Moutai's price increases have been transmitted relatively smoothly. The market absorbed the impact in the short term, establishing a new price equilibrium, which demonstrates Moutai's pricing power and channel control. With over two months remaining before the Mid-Autumn and National Day holidays, this timing for a price hike helps minimize market volatility and prepares for the upcoming peak season," Guotai Haitong further commented.
Additionally, according to Guotai Haitong's estimates, this price increase will affect the second half of 2026, providing a low single-digit percentage boost to the company's full-year profit. The first half of 2027 will also benefit, further enhancing the earnings certainty for Kweichow Moutai Co.,Ltd..
Broad Optimism on Moutai's Move
One Firm Sets 2,030 Yuan Target
Major research institutions have provided positive assessments of Moutai's price increase report. Considering the current state of consumer stocks, they also offer a relatively optimistic outlook for the broader industry's future in the secondary market.
While the prevailing narrative remains centered on AI, traditional consumer stocks continue to demonstrate robust profitability. Coupled with their low valuations, high dividends, and active share buybacks, these factors present a compelling case for accumulating positions in leading baijiu companies and their sector.
In this context, prominent investment research firms including CICC, Shenwan Hongyuan, Huachuang Securities, Guotai Haitong, and China Securities have all issued ratings for Kweichow Moutai Co.,Ltd. such as "Outperform," "Buy," "Add," or "Strongly Recommend."
CICC stated that the dynamic price adjustments represent a nimble and well-executed market-oriented reform. The iMoutai app acts as a market balancer and stabilizer. Raising the standard Feitian price to 1,639 yuan aligns it with market wholesale prices, aiming to squeeze the speculative space for arbitrageurs. This promotes fair access for consumers while supporting a gradual and orderly increase in Moutai's product prices.
The institution expects that tight supply in the second half of 2026 will strongly support Moutai's market prices and lead to a sequential improvement in product mix. The path for average selling price recovery within the year is becoming clearer, with potential for greater earnings elasticity in subsequent periods. It estimates the 2026 full-year supply of 500ml 53-degree standard Feitian at approximately 33,000-34,000 tons, with the 1-liter version at around a thousand tons. A static calculation suggests the price hikes for these two products could marginally increase 2026 revenue and profit by about 1.2% and 1.6% respectively (and 4.0% and 5.4% for 2027). Dynamically, Moutai's financial performance driver is expected to smoothly shift from volume growth to price growth, with optimized total supply and product structure in 2026, potentially leading to significant earnings elasticity in 2027.
China Securities also believes this price increase will directly boost revenue and profits, enhancing earnings certainty for this year and the next. It helps compress speculative activity and supports stable-to-rising wholesale prices, with overall stable sentiment among distributors anticipated. The firm is optimistic about the company's market-oriented reforms and stable wholesale price trend this year, and sees allocation value in the current rebalancing of market funds.
Guohai Securities noted that the core logic of constrained supply for Moutai remains unchanged. Market-oriented reforms are driving demand expansion, and multiple price hikes within the year continue to strengthen earnings certainty. The company's products have solid support on both volume and price fronts. Considering that current holdings have fallen to historical lows and the dividend yield is approaching 4% (based on the stock price as of July 17, 2026, and a minimum 75% payout ratio on estimated 2026 earnings), the value of this leader is further highlighted, warranting a maintained "Buy" rating.
Huachuang Securities stated that this price hike represents another key step in the company's market-oriented reform, further enhancing its positive impact on the full-year financial statements. From an overall operational perspective, after the Feitian price increase, the cost-effectiveness of higher-value-added products like Jingpin becomes more pronounced. The allocation of such products will be a crucial aspect of the market-oriented reform in the second half of the year.
It emphasized that Moutai's latest price increase injects confidence, reiterating a "Strongly Recommended" rating. Despite subdued consumer demand and the baijiu industry remaining in a deep adjustment phase, the company, through its determined market-oriented reforms this year, has reached a clear operational inflection point. For the current year, it balances growth with price and market stability. In the medium to long term, it has established a consumer-centric market-oriented channel and pricing system. Recent market volatility has led to an oversold stock price. Huachuang Securities maintains a one-year target price of 2,030 yuan and a "Strongly Recommended" rating.
Medium to Long-Term Outlook
Baijiu Sector's Value Becomes Apparent
From a market performance perspective, when trading commenced on Monday, July 20, enthusiasm in the baijiu sector was once again ignited by Moutai's price increase. Kweichow Moutai Co.,Ltd. surged over 6%, with its stock price exceeding 1,300 yuan. Other stocks like Gujing Gongjiu also saw significant gains, and signs of valuation recovery across the entire baijiu sector are becoming increasingly evident.
Zhongtai Securities indicated that after a deep downturn in 2025 transitioned into a low-level consolidation phase, the operating logic of the baijiu industry has fundamentally shifted this year. Companies are moving away from pushing inventory to boost sales, instead focusing on controlling stock levels, stabilizing wholesale prices, and精细化 operating terminal sales. The channel ecosystem continues to recover. The second quarter is traditionally a slow season, and combined with weaker-than-expected consumption during the Dragon Boat Festival and May Day holidays, overall demand remained soft, but significant structural differentiation within the sector is evident.
High-end baijiu shows prominent anti-cyclical characteristics. Leading companies have raised product prices multiple times, leveraging the iMoutai app to reach consumers directly and using distributor consignment models to alleviate channel funding pressure. Feitian wholesale prices have stabilized with low inventory, suggesting a slight year-on-year increase in Q2 revenue and profit. Wuliangye has achieved a three-year high in terminal sales, boosted by World Cup marketing. Luzhou Laojiao is implementing a strategy of controlling volume to support prices, with short-term revenue and profit facing year-on-year pressure. The sub-high-end segment is fiercely competitive, with companies continuing to destock. Firms like Shanxi Fenjiu and Shede are expected to see year-on-year declines in revenue and profit. Leveraging local market barriers and深耕 banqueting channels, regional baijiu producers are projected to achieve steady, modest growth.
Nanjing Securities believes the baijiu industry is still in an adjustment period. Companies are acting more rationally and pragmatically, with industry divergence intensifying, showing trends of "consolidation towards leaders, direct-to-consumer focus, and lower-alcohol products." It is estimated that the demand-side trough for the first half of 2026 has passed, while inventory and financial statement adjustments are still ongoing. The low comparison base in the second half of 2026 may lead to marginal improvement. In terms of timing, from Q4 2025 to Q1 2026, affected by the later timing of the 2026 Spring Festival, the adjustment in company financials and channels is expected to continue. A bottoming-out and recovery for leading companies is anticipated from Q2 to Q3 2026, aided by the low base. After the recent adjustments, the baijiu sector's valuation is currently at the 10th percentile of the past decade. Leading companies are emphasizing shareholder returns by increasing dividends, making the sector's medium to long-term investment value increasingly apparent.
Guosheng Securities holds the view that as 2026 passes its midpoint, the trend of rational supply-side actions and financial statement adjustments continues. It expects most baijiu companies to report year-on-year declines for Q2 2026, with a few potentially achieving positive revenue growth. Structural differentiation on the demand side persists, awaiting a modest recovery in sales in the second half, especially during the peak season. Currently, both the proportion of holdings in the baijiu sector and its valuation level are at historical lows. The bottoming trend for industry fundamentals and stock prices is clear. Short-term shifts in capital and risk appetite may drive valuation recovery. From a medium to long-term perspective, leading companies that excel in inventory adjustment, maintain healthy sell-through, and gain market share demonstrate prominent allocation value.
