Shenzhen Prioritizes Core Tech Breakthroughs in AI Algorithms, Computing Chips, and Robotics

The Seventh Session of the Seventh Shenzhen Municipal People's Congress opened on February 9 at the Civic Center auditorium. Mayor Qin Weizhong delivered the municipal government work report. In the report, Shenzhen proposed to accelerate efforts to build itself into a global pioneer city for artificial intelligence. The city aims to achieve over 10% growth in the value-added output of its AI industry cluster by 2026. High-standard innovation platforms, such as the Guangming Laboratory, Futian Laboratory, and the Leading Edge Intelligent Open Research Institute, will be established. Additionally, the Shenzhen–Hetao Academy will be developed to an advanced level. The city will strengthen the development of a full-stack, independently controllable AI software and hardware ecosystem, focusing resources on making breakthroughs in core technologies including algorithm theory, model architecture, intelligent computing chips, basic software, and intelligent robotics.
