The Dow Jones Industrial Average has just crossed the 40,000-point threshold for the first time, the latest milestone in the bull market for U.S. stocks that began in October 2022.
The blue-chip gauge hit a session high of 40,000.54, before quickly dipping back under the line. Still, its first cross above this level was seen as notable by stock-market strategists. It was trading up 76 points, or 0.2%, on the day at 39,994 in recent trade.
