More than one hundred primary school teachers from across Heilongjiang Province gathered in Harbin to take part in an artificial intelligence literacy course teacher training session.

The event, held on November 2 at Harbin Jiangong Primary School, was part of the national training program for 2026. Teachers observed live classroom instruction in AI literacy and exchanged views on how grassroots schools can implement the curriculum and integrate it across different subjects. Relevant officials from the Digital and Intelligent Education Research and Training Center of Heilongjiang Teacher Development College attended the activity. While touring the school campus and its science and innovation facilities, participating teachers showed strong interest in the school's visual presentation of class management data built on an AI platform, as well as in the simultaneously open functional classrooms for dance, calligraphy, computer studies, and science laboratories. Jiangong Primary School had previously been selected for a national repository of high-quality AI literacy education courses, and its intelligent teaching evaluation case was recognized by the Curriculum and Textbook Research and Development Center of the National Institute of Education Sciences.

During the demonstration lesson segment of the training, an instructor taught fifth-grade students a lesson titled Recognizing Voice Questions, using Heilongjiang Province's AI literacy teaching platform to guide students in operating voice interaction features. A separate lesson titled Experiencing Speech Recognition was offered to third-grade students, introducing speech recognition technology and its application scenarios through hands-on tasks. "Students are not listening to technical principles; they are discovering problems themselves through debugging," one participating teacher told reporters after the class.

At the research forum, themed "Dual-Track Implementation and Curriculum Integration for Education—Standardized Implementation of General Primary School AI Literacy Courses and Innovative Cross-Disciplinary Applications," Jiangong Primary School presented its approach of "provincial curriculum fallback guarantee plus subject integration for quality improvement" in response to the challenge of implementing courses under conditions of teacher shortage. The presentation covered the building of teaching and research teams, textbook study, class hour arrangements, and cross-disciplinary integration.

According to the Action Plan for Advancing "AI Plus Education" in Heilongjiang Province, issued by the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Education in June 2026, primary and secondary schools in the province are required to offer no fewer than eight class hours of AI literacy courses per academic year, with full implementation starting in the fall semester of 2026. The Digital and Intelligent Education Research and Training Center of Heilongjiang Teacher Development College had previously completed textbook training for more than 3,600 teachers across the province.
