Liu Fuyun: Will Gold Rise Again Tonight? Analysis and Trading Recommendations for Paper Gold and Silver

Deep News12-09 16:20

**Gold Market Analysis** On December 9, as the Federal Reserve's upcoming interest rate decision approaches, market speculation is rife. With no non-farm payroll data for reference, last week's inflation figures provided significant guidance, showing a moderate decline. This undoubtedly offers reasonable grounds for the Fed to consider rate cuts. However, sluggish employment data may prompt caution from policymakers, leading to restrained statements.

In the previous session, market expectations leaned toward a hawkish rate cut, causing gold to consolidate during the day before a rapid sell-off in the evening, followed by stabilization. Currently, until the Fed's decision is finalized, gold is likely to trade within a range-bound pattern with resistance near 4,220 (gradually declining) and strong support around 4,165. A breakout in either direction will be key—personally favoring a long position near 4,170, with follow-up trades targeting a pullback upon breakout. The next few sessions will be crucial.

**Crude Oil Market Analysis** For crude oil, the anticipated bearish trend, though delayed, remains intact. Recent rebounds have been short-lived, lacking sustained momentum. The core issue lies in unresolved supply-demand imbalances—short-term catalysts only provide fleeting volatility without altering fundamentals.

In the last session, oil prices rebounded to around 60.2 before retreating as expected, breaking below 59 and hitting our initial target. The strategy remains to follow the downtrend until tangible improvements in supply-demand dynamics emerge. Maintain short positions in crude oil for now.
