China Coal Energy (01898) has released its 2025 Environmental, Social and Governance Report, outlining progress on climate action, resource efficiency, safety, innovation and corporate governance for the year ended 31 December 2025.
Environmental Performance • Total greenhouse-gas emissions stood at 49.05 million tCO₂e, comprising 39.93 million tCO₂e of Scope 1 and 9.12 million tCO₂e of Scope 2. Emission intensity was 5.34 tCO₂e per RMB 10,000 of output value. • Comprehensive energy consumption reached 6.16 million tce, or 0.67 tce per RMB 10,000 of output value. Clean-energy use totalled 0.98 billion kWh. • Resource-efficiency indicators improved: coal-gangue utilisation hit 98.5%, mine-water reuse 97.8% and water-reuse rate 98.3%. • Key air-pollutant discharges were 1,672 t of SO₂, 3,448 t of NOx and 4,124 t of VOCs. Hazardous-waste compliant disposal rate was 100%.
Operational Safety and Workforce • Safety training coverage reached 100%; five work-related fatalities were recorded in four general accidents. • The company invested RMB 6.31 billion in safety, with full coverage under workplace accident insurance. • Headcount totalled 46,585, with 91.39% receiving training averaging 28 hours; staff turnover was 1.11%.
Innovation and Governance • R&D spend was RMB 3.58 billion, equal to 2.42% of revenue; 115 invention patents were granted and 76 industry-level awards received. • Independent non-executive directors make up 43% of the board; all five board committees met during the year. • No material penalties, major litigation or data-privacy breaches were reported.
Supply-Chain Management • Active supplier base reduced to 73,527 after a clean-up of duplicate and inactive vendors; 93% of procurement was via public tender. • All suppliers are screened under integrity and ESG criteria, with zero overdue payments to small and medium-sized enterprises.
Social Contribution • Spending on rural-revitalisation and social-welfare projects reached RMB 521 million, including RMB 147.05 million in direct donations. • The firm organised 535 volunteer activities involving 5,593 participants and 29,676 service hours.
Financial Snapshot • Revenue totalled RMB 148.06 billion, while profit before tax was RMB 22.28 billion. • Total assets stood at RMB 370.52 billion; taxes and fees paid reached RMB 20.42 billion.
Strategic Outlook China Coal Energy re-affirmed its “Dual Integration+” strategy—linking coal with coal-fired power and renewable energy—and targets peak carbon before 2030. The group pledges to deepen low-carbon transformation, strengthen supply-chain resilience and continue bolstering national energy security in the first year of its 15th Five-Year Plan.
