Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Motors has announced the market expansion of its best-selling SUV, with the three-row seat version of the Model Y now available for purchase by consumers in the United States.
The automaker, led by Elon Musk, stated via a social media post that customers in the U.S. and Puerto Rico can now order the long-range Model Y (Model YL). This particular variant was first introduced in the Chinese market last year.
This Model Y derivative features a three-row, six-seat configuration, which could prove highly attractive to American buyers seeking a larger vehicle. Last August, Musk had indicated that production of this model in the U.S. would not commence until the end of 2026, suggesting it might even never be produced if autonomous vehicle development advanced sufficiently.
The announcement regarding this expanded availability comes after Tesla Motors reported second-quarter delivery figures that exceeded analyst expectations.
