Igniting the "Wish of the Sea Star": CPIC Embodies Finance for Good Through Insurance Plus Philanthropy

Gathering faint lights to mend the world's imperfections and build shared warmth for all. From individuals to enterprises, the process of growing within society relies on society while also serving it, and from this soil, social philanthropy takes root. Philanthropy has become a major way for enterprises to give back to society. Philanthropy is not an "optional question" for enterprises but a "mandatory question" for development. CPIC has gone further and deeper on the philanthropic path. The CPIC Blue Charity Foundation, launched in 2020, upgraded in 2022 to establish the "Star Care Core" autism special fund, and in May 2025, the core project of "Star Care Core" — the "Wish of the Sea Star" charity campaign — was officially launched. On October 16, the CPIC "Wish of the Sea Star" charity campaign kicked off its Taiyuan stop. To date, 11 charity performances have been held, bringing immersive artistic experiences and warm companionship to more than 60 groups of autistic children and their families. Each "Wish of the Sea Star" charity campaign conveys the spirit of CPIC's finance for good, and "Wish of the Sea Star" is but one footnote among them.

Igniting the "Wish of the Sea Star" and Uniting the Force for Good

Autistic children are also called "children of the stars," as early severe neurodevelopmental disorders make them different from ordinary children. Data shows that China's autistic population has exceeded 13 million, including about 2 million to 5 million children under the age of 14. The cruel reality behind this group is that behind every autistic child is a family that has been completely rewritten. One parent quits their job to provide care, devoting all their time and energy, while the other shoulders the economic burden alone — and such days often last a lifetime. Research data shows that among families of autistic children in China, moderate to severe caregiving burden accounts for as high as 86.8%, and such heavy pressure has crushed countless families. Fortunately, in recent years, with the spread of knowledge about autism, this unique group has gradually entered public view and received help from the state and society, including from CPIC. In April 2022, CPIC formally established the "CPIC Blue Star Care Core Autism Special Fund," focusing on caring for autistic children. Pacific Health Insurance has donated a cumulative total of 6 million yuan to the fund over three consecutive years, aiming to provide systematic support for autistic children and their families and to build an autism care system covering early intervention, potential development, social integration, and vocational support. It is understood that the "Star Care Core" autism special fund mainly explores diversified integrated intervention and support paths for serving autistic children through project operations. For example, "Star Brain Navigation" mainly uses brain-computer interface technology for cognitive and behavioral intervention, providing autistic children with technology-supported rehabilitation services. The "Wish of the Sea Star" project features immersive drama therapy, helping children with special needs open their closed hearts, build emotional connections, and bravely express themselves. In May 2025, the "Wish of the Sea Star" project officially launched in Shanghai. In just over a year, the campaign has been held successively in Hangzhou, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Beijing, and other cities, carrying out 11 charity performances and bringing immersive artistic experiences and warm companionship to more than 60 groups of autistic children and their families. CPIC stated that in the future it will also promote "Wish of the Sea Star" in more cities, lighting the light of hope for more children with special needs and their families.

Writing Benevolent Financial Deeds and Painting the Background of Responsibility

The warm practice of "Wish of the Sea Star" is a vivid microcosm of CPIC's deep cultivation of philanthropy and fulfillment of social responsibility. In recent years, CPIC has extended this sense of responsibility to every aspect of its operations and development. Centering on national strategy, livelihood protection, green ecology, and philanthropic action, it has twisted its main insurance business and social responsibility into one rope, forging a development path that values both economic benefits and social value. In terms of sustainable development, CPIC continues to advance low-carbon transformation and create harmonious value through green development. By the end of 2025, CPIC's green insurance coverage exceeded 310 trillion yuan, and its green investment scale exceeded 300 billion yuan, with key investments in clean transportation, ecological restoration, new energy infrastructure, and other fields. CPIC also proposed a goal of reducing operational carbon emissions by 20% by 2028 compared with 2023. In addition, CPIC has built more than 2,000 mu of public welfare forests in Sanjiangyuan, Qinghai, planting nearly 120,000 trees and reducing carbon by about 1,600 tons annually. To address climate change challenges, it has developed various types of catastrophe insurance suited to local conditions, including rescue-oriented, innovative, and index-based products. It has also promoted public liability insurance for wildlife-related incidents, with cumulative coverage exceeding 1.84 billion yuan, contributing CPIC's share to ecological protection. In terms of livelihood protection, centered on "insurance for the people," it has extended protection to the fields people care about most, including medical care, elderly care, agriculture, and disasters. In 2025, CPIC's critical illness insurance covered more than 100 cities and 227 million person-times, long-term care insurance covered more than 120 million person-times, and inclusive insurance covered about 150 million person-times. In 2025, CPIC provided more than 637.3 billion yuan in agricultural risk protection for more than 16.5 million rural household-times, with annual claims of nearly 15.7 billion yuan. It has invested a cumulative total of more than 62 million yuan in rural revitalization donations and dispatched 430 village-stationed cadres. At the same time, it has developed exclusive insurance products for groups such as the elderly and children, people with illnesses, and women, such as breast cancer recurrence protection and long-term medical insurance. More importantly, CPIC has always insisted on moving toward good. In 2020, CPIC initiated the establishment of the CPIC Blue Charity Foundation, building two major service systems: "Protect Memory, Protect Love" and "Star Care Core Autism Care." "Star Care Core Autism Care" focuses on autism, while "Protect Memory, Protect Love" focuses more on cognitive impairment in the elderly. Looking at the "Protect Memory, Protect Love" project, as of now, CPIC has served more than 300,000 person-times, completed 308,000 person-times of public welfare early screening for dementia, carried out nearly 4,000 person-times of professional training, built 45 public welfare service sites, and also launched programs such as "Protect Memory, Light Up the Sunset" for elderly brain health science popularization and empowerment. In addition, CPIC has implemented a lifetime protection charity project for outstanding athletes, released the "Guard Day and Night" charity partner circle, and carried out the "Responsibility Lights Up the Future" educational charity campaign for 18 consecutive years, building diversified new models such as "insurance plus sports" and "insurance plus philanthropy." Responsibility is not just talk. Over 35 years, CPIC has integrated social responsibility into the lifeblood of its development. From safeguarding national strategy to serving social livelihood, from helping disadvantaged groups to supporting disaster prevention and mitigation, every step of CPIC resonates with the mission of the times and the needs of the people.

Anchoring the Development Agenda and Demonstrating Strategic Resolve

Behind its persistent practice of social responsibility is the company's long-term strategic resolve, its strategic vision integrated into the overall national development agenda, and its value reshaping that transforms social responsibility from "added value" into a "core strategic element." For CPIC, the key "skeleton" supporting its fulfillment of social responsibility is precisely its clear strategic planning. In 2025, CPIC officially upgraded its three major strategies of "Big Health," "Big Region," and "Big Data" into "Big Health and Elderly Care," "Internationalization," and "AI Plus." This shift aligns precisely with national needs such as actively responding to population aging, dual circulation, and building a strong nation through science and technology. Under different strategic paths, CPIC uses various measures to give social responsibility practice a clear foothold. For example, under the "Big Health and Elderly Care" strategy, CPIC planned the "1234" strategic framework, making health and elderly care services move from "comprehensive" to "specialized" and building a full life-cycle customer service system of "prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and care." At the same time, CPIC gives full play to its main insurance business and funding advantages, continuously enriching the variety of commercial health insurance products and expanding coverage. It accelerates the establishment of an exclusive preferred medical service network, improves the service quality of CPIC Home elderly care communities, home and community elderly care, rehabilitation hospitals, and other services, and perfects the construction of a multi-level health and elderly care system. CPIC also accelerates exploration of commercial long-term care insurance, creating the "Yi Hu" series of products and building triple protection of retirement reserves, nursing protection, and elderly care services. Through its subsidiaries, it strengthens management of long-term funds such as enterprise annuities and occupational annuities. In terms of the "Internationalization" strategy, while actively expanding its own overseas business, CPIC also insists on helping Chinese enterprises "go global." For example, it jointly released with financial institutions the "Cross-Border Financial Service Plan G-FIRST2.0 to Support Chinese Enterprises Going Global," creating a new service model of "multi-business linkage and full-chain coverage" to meet enterprises' diverse needs in investment and financing, risk management, cross-border payments, and more. It innovatively built a full-chain solution of "technology export plus local services," providing comprehensive risk protection for Chinese automakers' vehicle exports, localized production, and operations in the Thai market. In terms of the "AI Plus" strategy, CPIC built the "633" strategic blueprint, focusing on six core areas and accelerating the implementation of scenario applications, mainly including strengthening marketing team empowerment, fully integrating into operations management, reshaping the customer management system, safeguarding industry-associated risks, expanding the boundaries of investment capability, and empowering risk and compliance loss reduction. CPIC's "AI Plus" project list covers more than 30 projects in five major categories, including group strategy, group innovation incubation, and subsidiary strategy. At the same time, CPIC is accelerating the creation of hard-core strength in technology finance, directing more financial resources into technological innovation. The implementation of its strategy stays closely tied to the overall national agenda, social needs, and livelihood protection. As a leading comprehensive insurance group in the industry, CPIC is using practical action to integrate finance for good into the lifeblood of its development and continues to exert effort in serving the real economy and safeguarding people's well-being.
