Chow Sang Sang Shares Surge Nearly 5% on Strong Q2 Retail Sales Growth

Shares of Chow Sang Sang (HKEX: 00116) rose close to 5%, climbing 4.85% to HK$12.11 at the time of writing, with a turnover of HK$9.2553 million.

The company recently announced that its retail sales value for the three months ended June 30, 2026, increased by 16% year-on-year. Both its Mainland China and Hong Kong & Macau markets reported positive same-store sales growth.

Demand for gold jewelry remained resilient despite price volatility, and the group's diverse product portfolio, which includes several iconic series, continued to be well-received by the market.

The group is persistently optimizing its retail network through store upgrades, strategic closures, and new store openings to further enhance overall operational efficiency.

Analysis points out that Chow Sang Sang's same-store sales in Hong Kong and Macau for the second quarter of 2026 grew by 30% year-on-year, maintaining a rapid growth pace following a 46% increase in the first quarter. This was primarily supported by stable local demand and relatively steady contributions from community mall outlets.

Foot traffic in tourist areas continued to improve. Data from the Hong Kong Tourism Board and the Macao Government Tourism Office showed that visitor numbers from Mainland China to Hong Kong and Macao in April-June 2026 increased by 11% and 5% year-on-year, respectively, providing a customer flow boost for retail consumption in these regions.

By product category, demand for gold jewelry remained robust, and priced products made a positive contribution to sales. Iconic series such as "YUYU," "Noir," and "Charme" all recorded positive growth.
