The total market capitalization of listed companies under South Korea's SK Group surpassed 2,000 trillion won (approximately 1.321 trillion US dollars) for the first time on Tuesday, primarily driven by a recent surge in the share price of its memory chip manufacturer, SK Hynix.
Data from the Korea Exchange shows that as of 2:34 PM local time on Tuesday, the combined market value of the 19 listed companies under SK Group reached approximately 2,015 trillion won, marking an increase of 2.62% from the previous trading session's close.
Shares of SK Hynix soared as much as 3.56% in afternoon trading, reaching around 2.36 million won per share. This pushed its market capitalization to 1,688 trillion won, which accounts for 83.7% of the total market value of all SK Group's listed entities.
Concurrently, the total market capitalization of listed companies under the Samsung Group also increased, rising by 1.95% to reach 2,546 trillion won.
