Recently, the General Administration of Sport of China announced the list of public sports venues receiving central government subsidies for free or low-cost public access in 2026, with 29 sports venues from the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps included.
Starting from 2025, subsidies for the opening of public sports venues have been integrated into the central government’s financial support for local public cultural service systems. Among the selected venues are the Public Sports Activity Center of the First Division (Alar City), the Shihezi City Gymnasium of the Eighth Division, and the Tuanjie Farm Gymnasium of the Ninth Division. These subsidies will enhance the service capacity of public sports facilities in the Corps, promote the sustainable and healthy development of national fitness initiatives, and allow residents to enjoy higher-quality, more convenient fitness services close to home.
In recent years, the Corps has prioritized sports development, issuing the *National Fitness Implementation Plan (2021–2025)* and the *Implementation Plan for Building a Higher-Level National Fitness Public Service System*. Through strengthened top-level planning and increased public sports facility provisions, the Corps has continuously improved its national fitness public service system. Additionally, efforts have been made to allocate more public fitness resources to grassroots communities, equipping regimental farms and company-level (community) areas with accessible sports facilities. Central funding for local public cultural services has also been utilized to address gaps in township (street-level) fitness equipment, ensuring more balanced urban-rural fitness services.
Currently, sports fitness facilities cover 100% of company-level (community) areas in the Corps.
