Pony AI Inc. (PONY-W; “Pony AI”) has announced a broadened partnership with Uber Technologies to introduce over 2,000 Level-4 autonomous robotaxis across five European cities. The deployment will build on the forthcoming launch in Zagreb and extend to four additional, yet-to-be-named European locations.
The collaboration integrates three critical functions for large-scale robotaxi operations: 1. Pony AI’s Level-4 autonomous-driving technology, rider experience design and operational expertise accumulated from multiple large-fleet deployments in China. 2. Uber’s global mobility platform, covering rider booking, payment processing and customer service, complemented by its network of human drivers. 3. Day-to-day fleet management by local partners to be appointed in each market, with flexibility on vehicle funding and ownership structures.
Pony AI and Uber began cooperating in May 2025, initially targeting international markets. In 2026, the two firms joined Croatian mobility provider Verne to launch Europe’s first commercial robotaxi service in Zagreb, where Verne operates the local fleet. The fresh agreement marks an escalation of Pony AI’s regional scale-up strategy and includes preliminary plans for future deployments in the Middle East.
The company characterises the expanded partnership as a “clearer path to commercial scale,” leveraging complementary strengths—advanced autonomous technology, a mature ride-hailing customer base and established on-ground fleet operators—to accelerate market penetration.
Shareholders and potential investors are advised to exercise caution when dealing in Pony AI securities, as the announcement contains forward-looking statements subject to inherent risks and uncertainties.
