Xiamen Airport Establishes "Golden Air Corridors" for Belt and Road Passenger and Cargo Transport

At 8:55 AM on May 12th, as flight MF853 carrying 161 passengers took off, the number of passengers traveling through Xiamen Airport to and from Belt and Road partner countries this year surpassed the 1 million mark, reaching 1.0001 million. This milestone was achieved 17 days earlier than the 2025 target, setting a new record for the fastest growth rate during the same period in history.

As a strategic hub city on the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, the radiating effect of Xiamen's air corridors continues to strengthen. Currently, Xiamen International Airport Co.,Ltd. operates 12 direct passenger routes to and from nine Belt and Road partner countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia. It also operates six direct cargo routes connecting three Belt and Road partner nations: the Philippines, Vietnam, and Luxembourg. As of May 11th, Xiamen Airport Customs has supervised a total of 7,041 passenger and cargo flights to and from Belt and Road partner countries this year, with related inbound and outbound passenger traffic reaching 998,800 person-times. These figures represent year-on-year increases of 8.57% and 13.16%, respectively, establishing highly efficient and convenient aerial "golden corridors."

"With the nation's continuous expansion and elevation of its opening-up policies, the number of international travelers to and from Xiamen is steadily increasing. To enhance the travel experience for passengers, Xiamen Airport is fully committed to building an integrated 'land, sea, and air' comprehensive transportation network. We proactively coordinate with the Xiamen Port Office, Customs, and other departments, having pioneered the operation of international flight services at city terminal lounges within Xiamen and successfully implemented joint customs clearance services for international and regional connecting flights," stated He Tao from the International Customer Service Department of Xiamen International Airport Ground Services Co., Ltd.

Since the beginning of this year, the Xiamen Airport port has launched and resumed four international passenger and cargo routes, constructing an international (regional) route network that radiates across Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania. Currently, there are 38 active international (regional) passenger and cargo routes operating to and from Xiamen International Airport Co.,Ltd.. In the first four months, Xiamen Airport Customs supervised and facilitated a total of 10,300 inbound and outbound flights and 1.4845 million inbound and outbound passengers, representing year-on-year growth of 1.40% and 8.31%, respectively.
