Limited spots available, first come first served. Let us embark together on the journey toward sustainability. [Click to register] Sina Tech News, October 14 morning report — Recently, Tencent Holdings (00700)'s WeChat mini program quietly launched "Green Bubble Short Dramas." It is understood that the Green Bubble Short Dramas page is divided into three main sections: "Free Theater," "Swipe," and "Mine." Among them, Free Theater includes columns for AI dramas, live-action dramas, and animated dramas. Tapping "Swipe" and scrolling up and down enters an immersive recommendation feed. Notably, all dramas on the platform are currently free to watch, with advertisements inserted between episodes. According to the "Short Drama Mini Program User Agreement," the contracting entity for the service is Shenzhen Tencent Computer Systems Company Limited. The agreement also states that all short dramas come from third-party providers, including third-party mini programs, short drama production companies, and authorized distributors, who authorize this service to display and play them.

Compared with Hongguo Short Dramas, Green Bubble Short Dramas has a stronger social dimension, with "Friends Are Watching" and regional trending recommendations on its homepage. In addition, Green Bubble Short Dramas supports picture-in-picture playback — when receiving a WeChat message, there is no need to exit the drama; the window can float on screen, allowing you to reply to messages while continuing to watch without exiting and searching for your progress again. Regarding the above, Sina Tech sought verification from Tencent officials, but as of press time there has been no official response. Separately, Sina Tech found that WeChat Xiaowei (the intelligent assistant) can now directly invoke "Green Bubble Short Dramas" — by conversing with Xiaowei via text or voice and trying to search related keywords, it can directly call up the relevant mini program service. WeChat Xiaowei's one-sentence summary of "Green Bubble Short Dramas" is: "The Hongguo Short Dramas inside WeChat — free, hassle-free, and powered by social recommendations."

Public information shows that this is not Tencent Holdings (00700)'s first foray into the short drama business. In 2021, Tencent Video launched "Ten-Minute Theater"; in 2025, WeChat launched Mars Short Drama Club (later renamed Mars Watch Dramas), and in June of the same year launched a short drama mini program. Currently, the old short drama mini program entry has been taken offline, with Green Bubble taking over.
