HUTCHMED (00013) has announced that, following its announcement on September 3, 2026 and the satisfaction of customary closing conditions including antitrust review, the exclusive development and licensing agreement between its subsidiary Hutchison MediPharma (Shanghai) Limited and a subsidiary of GSK plc has been completed.
The agreement grants the GSK subsidiary the rights to develop and commercialize HMPL-A830 worldwide, excluding Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan.
This first-in-class antibody-targeted conjugate (ATTC) drug candidate is created by conjugating a highly selective and potent KRAS (Kirsten rat sarcoma) small molecule inhibitor as the payload with an anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) antibody.
Colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, and lung cancer are the cancer types with the highest incidence of KRAS gene alterations, and these patients often lack safe and durable KRAS therapies. HMPL-A830 is designed to address this need by delivering the KRAS inhibitor directly to tumors expressing EGFR, while simultaneously blocking both EGFR and KRAS signaling pathways, thereby improving efficacy, durability, and tolerability.
The Phase Ia portion of a global clinical trial of HMPL-A830 for the treatment of unresectable advanced or metastatic solid tumors, conducted in China and the United States, was initiated in September 2026 (clinicaltrials.gov registration number NCT07718581).
Under the terms of the agreement, Hutchison MediPharma (Shanghai) Limited will be responsible for the global Phase I development program of HMPL-A830. The GSK subsidiary will be responsible for all subsequent clinical development and commercialization activities in its territory.
With the completion of the exclusive licensing agreement, Hutchison MediPharma (Shanghai) Limited expects to receive a upfront payment of US$110 million in the near term, and is eligible to receive additional potential payments of up to US$1.185 billion upon the achievement of regulatory, development, and commercial sales milestones, plus tiered royalties based on net sales.
