GAC GROUP (02238) rose more than 5%, reaching a 5.28% increase to HK$3.59 by the time of writing, with a trading volume of HK$211 million. Recently, Feng Xingya, Chairman of GAC GROUP, announced at the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show that the company has completed and put into operation a pilot production line for all-solid-state batteries in Panyu, Guangzhou. This production line has successfully established the full manufacturing process for all-solid-state batteries, making GAC the first in the industry to achieve conditions for mass production of 60Ah or higher automotive-grade all-solid-state batteries.
The head of new energy power R&D at GAC's Platform Technology Research Institute stated that the solid-state battery is expected to undergo small-scale vehicle testing in 2026, with gradual mass production planned between 2027 and 2030. According to reports, GAC's self-developed solid-state electrolyte material has achieved an ionic conductivity exceeding 10mS/cm, placing it at the forefront of the industry. Additionally, the company has successfully developed large-width, high-toughness sulfide-based solid-state electrolyte films to ensure optimal performance of the batteries. In electrode processing, dry electrode technology has enabled continuous production of high-capacity cathodes with over 7.7mAh/cm², laying the foundation for high-energy-density all-solid-state batteries.
Analysts note that as sulfide/oxide verification progresses and core processes such as dry electrode and solid-state electrolyte film formation enter engineering validation, the demand for new equipment in solid-state battery production lines is becoming evident. Automakers and battery manufacturers have adopted a "joint R&D + scenario validation" model, accelerating the rollout of large-scale demonstration lines. The equipment sector is expected to benefit from the transition from pilot lines to GWh-level production, driving order growth and process upgrades.
