Newly released court documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case continue to generate significant attention, particularly regarding their mention of Microsoft founder Bill Gates. According to reports from Politico and other media outlets on January 4, multiple members of the U.S. House of Representatives from both Republican and Democratic parties are demanding that Gates be subpoenaed concerning this matter.

The documents released recently by the U.S. Department of Justice reportedly contain allegations that Gates had an extramarital affair, contracted a sexually transmitted infection, and attempted to secretly administer antibiotics to his then-wife. In response, Melinda Gates, his former wife, stated in an interview on January 3 that she felt "unbearable sadness" upon learning these details.

Representative Nancy Mace, a Republican, announced on social media on January 4 that after viewing Melinda Gates's interview the previous evening, she immediately requested House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman James Comer to issue a subpoena for Bill Gates. Mace expressed that she has questions for Gates regarding Epstein.

Politico further reported that Chairman Comer is considering subpoenaing Bill Gates to testify as part of the investigation into the Epstein case. Comer confirmed in an interview that several Republican and Democratic members of the committee have contacted him urging the summons, indicating a strong likelihood that Gates will be called to testify.

Meanwhile, Bill Gates has denied the new allegations contained in the Epstein-related documents. In a statement on January 4, Gates expressed regret over his association with Epstein.

Jeffrey Epstein was arrested in July 2019 on charges of sex trafficking and conspiracy involving underage girls. He died in a New York prison in August of the same year. Epstein was known for his extensive connections with influential figures in politics and business and was implicated in organizing illegal activities on his private island. The U.S. Department of Justice released a batch of documents related to the case on January 30, 2026, which named several prominent American individuals linked to Epstein.
