Shanghai Airports Launch 3 Dedicated Service Centers as CIIE Exhibitors and Materials Arrive

Deep News10-31

With the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) approaching, exhibitors and materials have begun arriving in Shanghai. As of October 31, Shanghai International Airport Co.,Ltd. has facilitated the transport of 23 batches of CIIE-related goods, totaling 88 items weighing 6.4 tons. These include precision instruments, jewelry, models, apparel, spices, and food products from countries such as the U.S., Italy, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia.

Three dedicated CIIE service centers have been fully operationalized in the arrival areas of both Pudong and Hongqiao airports. These centers integrate consultation services, business support, and event promotion, offering multilingual translation, information inquiries, transportation guidance, and emergency assistance. Pudong Airport has established self-service points and integrated service zones along passenger arrival routes, including jet bridges, baggage claim areas, and public arrival zones, with new multilingual guides for tax refunds and connecting flights. Hongqiao Airport has introduced 12 service initiatives, featuring shortened cutoff times, inter-airline ticket transfers, upgraded self-service boarding gates, enhanced rest areas, and smart ride-hailing solutions.

Meanwhile, Shanghai police have implemented 20 measures across five key areas to enhance the CIIE experience. These include expanding the reuse of previous expo credentials (now covering the 5th to 7th editions), extending registration deadlines to late October, and streamlining the credentialing process from seven to five working days. Additional security checkpoints have been added at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) to reduce queue times, along with electronic verification channels at the InterContinental Hotel for guest access.

Parking resources within the NECC have been optimized, with exhibitor spaces increased to over 2,800 (a 5% rise from previous years) by reallocating areas like customs inspection zones and bus stops. In Minhang District, landscaping upgrades are underway, featuring seasonal flowers and renovated topiary displays along key routes to the venue, complemented by nearly 1,000 floral installations at major intersections and bridges.
