STANCHART trims share count by 0.03% after latest GBP 8.30 million buyback

Standard Chartered PLC (abbrev. STANCHART) cancelled 0.75 million previously repurchased ordinary shares on 4 August 2026, cutting the outstanding share capital to 2.19 billion shares. The cancellation represents 0.03 % of the 2.19 billion shares outstanding before the adjustment.

In parallel, the bank repurchased a further 0.37 million shares on 4 August 2026 across the London Stock Exchange, CBOE BXE and CBOE CXE at prices ranging from GBP 22.08 to GBP 22.61, for a total outlay of GBP 8.30 million. These shares, together with 0.37 million shares bought on 3 August 2026, remain pending cancellation.

Since receiving shareholder approval on 7 May 2026 to repurchase up to 221.63 million shares, STANCHART has bought back 24.42 million shares—1.10 % of the shares in issue at the time of the mandate. The board intends to cancel all shares acquired under the programme.
