Boeing has confirmed that eight crew members lost their lives in the crash of a B-52 bomber at Edwards Air Force Base in California. Two of the individuals on board were Boeing employees.

The company stated it has made contact with the families of those affected and is providing support. This follows an earlier statement from the U.S. Department of Defense which reported that a U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress bomber crashed shortly after takeoff from Edwards Air Force Base on Monday.

The Pentagon's statement indicated the aircraft was conducting a routine test mission at the time of the incident, with the crash occurring at approximately 11:20 Pacific Time.
