Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ryo Akazawa, stated during a press conference in Tokyo that the country can secure sufficient crude oil supplies for the entirety of this year. He indicated that, compared to the same period last year, the majority of Japan's crude oil in May is expected to come from alternative supply sources.
